The use of timber veneers and detailed timber inlays predates ancient Egypt. Ornate inlays used in production antique furniture date way back to the 14th century and feature in some of the most stunning pieces ever created. Parquetry is a form of inlay and is mostly seen in timber flooring patterns. Marquetry dates back to the 18th century is closer to home for us as it’s a form of art where timber inlays are used to create intricate pictures, portraits or landscapes in furniture. We have modernised the inlay by offering several different options where you can really make your piece of furniture stand out from the crowd. Highly skilled hands are required to apply inlays, there’s no room for mistakes and the tolerance levels are measured within fractions of a millimetre. From simple strips of contrasting timber, to detailed timber patterns, casting resins with glitter or rope, motifs for corners and hubs and even LED lighting! We are bringing the option of inlays back for our lovely furniture to allow you the opportunity to create something even more special for the ages.
