Crafting Memories Through Furniture
In 1958, when I was just 10 years old, my father guided me through my first woodworking lesson. He set a wooden box in front of an old bandsaw, positioned a board on the table, drew a line, and instructed, “Cut along this line.” My only question was, “Which side?”
School holidays were spent working alongside of my father learning from him and earning a few dollars for pocket money.
By 17, I realised my path lay in either dismantling objects to understand their workings or creating new ones. I became my father’s first apprentice during an era when animal hooves were recycled as “hot melt glue”—before the days of chipboard/MDF, tungsten tip saws, staple guns, battery drills, and CNC machines, when dovetails were considered a sign of quality. A time when the furniture industry in South Australia employed more people than Chrysler and Holden, a time when there was no imported furniture.
After nearly 59 years in the craft, the time has come for me to retire. Ryan, Garry and I are currently completing our final production of tables and chairs. All stock is now available at significantly reduced prices on our website, under the “Available Now” section.
The sale will run until the end of October. Monday – Friday Only
Thank you for supporting locally crafted furniture over the years.
